    Introducing Our New Collection

Autumn has arrived, and so has our fabulous new collection. This season we continue to focus on what we excel at: beautiful fabrics, flattering cuts and statement, contemporary styles. As you know, since day 1 we’ve featured ‘real women’ as our models. It’s something I’m particularly proud of, especially since many said it wouldn’t work and we’ve definitely proven otherwise! Our models have ranged from 5ft to 5ft 10, size UK 6 to UK 16, and this season we’ve welcomed 3 more beautiful ladies to the family: Evey, Bukky and Emma. The 3 ladies are roughly the same dress size,...

    Embrace "The Power Of One"

Last Monday I went to PURE – the UK’s leading fashion trade show. I first went back in July 2015, when I had just launched the-Bias-Cut.com blog, and wrote about the demoralising experience I went through. Primarily I was subjected to dismissal by designers, mostly horrified by the thought of their pieces being openly worn by women over 40. Living an ethical, sustainable lifestyle is becoming increasingly important - from food to clothing to skincare to basic utilities. In the UK, the ethical market grew by 3.2% in the UK in 2016 alone. Why Wearing Colour Matters

On Wednesday I had the pleasure to attending a talk by Professor Carolyn Mair PhD, founder of Psychology.Fashion. Having a background in psychology, Carolyn moved into studying Fashion when invited to do so by the London College of Fashion. She is now the leading expert on understanding the relationship between fashion and the mind. The psychology behind why we make our fashion choices has always fascinated me. I’ve mentioned before that, a few years ago, I went to talk with Grayson Perry who discussed taste and how we dress to fit into a certain ‘tribe’. And, as you know, I...

How Far Does Enniful's Vogue Vision For Diversity Truly Reach?

A post shared by British Vogue (@britishvogue) on Mar 30, 2018 at 9:00am PDT Last week the May cover of British Vogue hit the internet, and the magazine itself is now available. So far it has been highly praised for its “The New Frontiers” cover – a fold out spread celebrating diversity. It features 9 models, each changing the face of the industry in their own way, and has made history by featuring 20-year-old Halima Aden, the first ever model to appear on the cover wearing a hijab in the publication’s 102 year history. It’s a powerful cover and makes...
